Our name: Reformed
We belong to the Protestant denomination called Christian Reformed Churches of Australia which was established in Australia in 1951. See a history of our origins by pressing the history tab.
A Place to Call Home Over the years the CRCA has become the spiritual home of many migrants from all over the world. Originally it was a Dutch migration after the Second World War that saw the establishment of the CRCA in Australia in the early 1950s. Other early migrants who have made the CRCA home are those who have come from Sri Lanka, many of whom have settled in Melbourne. We are pleased that many South African migrants from these three Reformed Churches are making their home in the Christian Reformed Churches in Australia. Already in the Christian Reformed Church of Perth we have a growing number of folk from the Nederduitsch or Nederduits Hervormde Kerk van Afrika (NH), Nederduitsch or Nederduits Gereformeerde Kerk van Afrika (NG) and the Gereformeerde Kerk van Afrika (GK). The current minister of the Christian Reformed Church of Perth, Rev. Geoff van Schie, is also a member of the Synodical Committee for Ecumenical Relationships (CER) and has been appointed as the representative of the CRCA to the South African Reformed Churches. In 2002 he attended the Synod of the Dutch Reformed Church of South Africa (Nederduitsch or Nederduits Gereformeerde Kerk van Afrika (NG)) in Pretoria and returned to South Africa in September 2004 to attend the synods of the Hervormde Church of South Africa (Nederduitsch or Nederduits Hervormde Kerk van Afrika) as well as return to the Synod of the Dutch Reformed Church.of South Africa (Nederduitsch or Nederduits Gereformeerde Kerk van Afrika (NG). He is due to attend the synod of the Reformed Church of South Africa (Gereformeerde Kerk) in January 2006. In particular the CRC Perth is where we have many international visitors worship with us as they pass through Perth either on holidays or on business. (See the Map page to see how close and accessible we are to the centre of Perth - just minutes away).
