Welcome to the website of the Christian Reformed Church of Perth

an Australian Reformed Church

The Christian Reformed church of Perth belongs to the family of churches known in Australia as the Christian Reformed Churches of Australia (CRCA).

As a Reformed Church in Perth it has served the city of Perth for more than 52 years.

As a Christian church, the Christian Reformed Church of Perth welcomes people of all backgrounds and cultures and among its members many different nationalities and cultures are represented. Of late many Afrikaans migrants are finding these Reformed churches to be just like the churches back home and find it easy to become part of a warm and caring community of faith.

This site provides a free service to all who wish to either enquire into the Christian faith or who as Christians desire to grow their knowledge of and relationship with God and Jesus Christ.

The LINK Newsletter is the official 'newspaper' of the Christian Reformed Church of Perth and will keep you posted as to what is happening in our community in Colombo Street on the opposite side of the Swan River to the Perth city centre.

If you are an international visitor staying in one of Perth's great hotels, we are just minutes away by car or bus and offer a pick up service for those wishing to worship with us. The Christian Reformed Church of Perth is passionate about extending Christian hospitality to visitors to Australia and the city of Perth and has in the past enjoyed meeting many people from all over the world.

The LINK Newsletter page also includes information on worship services with links to recordings of sermons in either audio or video format which can be downloaded at your leisure. These recording come complete with a printable sermon outline in PDF format  to enable easier following of each sermon (message) and later use for further reflection or even as a resource for leading a Bible study in a small group.

We are pleased that many South African migrants from these three Reformed Churches are making their home in the Christian Reformed Churches in Australia. Already in the Christian Reformed Church of Perth we have a growing number of folk from the Nederduitsch or Nederduits Hervormde Kerk van Afrika (NH),  Nederduitsch or Nederduits Gereformeerde Kerk van Afrika (NG) and the Gereformeerde Kerk van Afrika (GK).

All are most welcome to worship with us and Lord willing, to make the CRCA their home.

If you are migrating and would like us to meet you at the airport and help you get settled, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to help you in any way we can.

The current minister of the Christian Reformed Church of Perth, Rev. Geoff van Schie, is also a member of the Synodical Committee for Ecumenical Relationships (CER) and has been appointed as the representative of the CRCA to the South African Reformed Churches. In 2002 he attended the Synod of the Dutch Reformed Church of South Africa (Nederduitsch or Nederduits Gereformeerde Kerk van Afrika (NG)) in Pretoria and returned to South Africa in September 2004 to attend the synods of the Hervormde Church of South Africa (Nederduitsch or  Nederduits Hervormde Kerk van Afrika) as well as return to the Synod of the Dutch Reformed Church.of South Africa (Nederduitsch  or Nederduits Gereformeerde Kerk van Afrika (NG). He is due to attend the synod of the Reformed Church of South Africa (Gereformeerde Kerk) in January 2006.

This site is committed to sharing what we know about Jesus Christ.

"You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! For if, when we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation." (Romans 5:6-11, NIV)

Christians in the Age of Terrorism
We are being told today that the war against terrorism will take more than a few years to win - more likely it will take a decade or more. It seems that with events like the destruction of the Twin Towers (9/11), Bali, Jakarta, Beslam, we are in for a drawn out conflict as experienced in the 70s when for years we struggled with the horrors of skyjackings as so vividly remembered by the name Lockerbie. Today we face the misplaced zeal of a small but radical and fanatical fringe element of Muslims who justify their atrocities in the name of 'Jihad' whose activities have become synonymous with the names 'Osama bin Laden' , 'Hambali' and 'Jemaah Islamiyah' among others.

This series of sermons answers some of the tough questions that Christians and non Christians alike have asked in times such as these. They are questions raised by God's people in the past and within the pages of the Bible we find answers that God has provided that remain true for us today. These answers are for the comfort of all who struggle against evil in this world and are anxious about the outcome of these unfolding events.

Habbakuk 3:16-19: Why don't you do something God?
Rev. Geoff van Schie  (12.09.04)
Available in video broadband and dialup versions on request

"How long, O Lord, must I call for help, but you do not listen? Or cry out to you, "Violence!" but you do not save? Why do you make me look at injustice? Why do you tolerate wrong? Destruction and violence are before me; there is strife, and conflict abounds. Therefore the law is paralysed, and justice never prevails. The wicked hem in the righteous, so that justice is perverted. (Habbakuk 1:2-4)
